This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a casualty who is unconscious and not breathing normally, in line with the ANZCOR guidelines.
This course does not include first-aid training. Please see our first aid course which covers CPR + first aid training.
Regular CPR training is essential for employment in various industries, including mining, health, education, and community service.

CPR refresher course HLTAID009 Provide CPR only doesn’t have any formal prerequisites, however you are not fully certified as a first aid responder without having completed HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and CPR within the past three years to hold a current certification.
To participate in these courses a sound understanding of the English language is essential. For this reason, students may be required to complete a short assessment to ascertain their language, literacy, and numeracy level at the time of enrolment.
Additionally, upon enrolment, students must have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) to study an accredited course in Australia.

You don't need to be athletic but to complete the course, you will be required to perform 2 mins of uninterrupted single CPR (5 cycles of chest compressions and rescue breaths) and you will be asked to handle the dummy manually. So, a level of physical fitness is essential.
Face-to-Face time for HLTAID009 Provide CPR Only is 3.5hrs.
The online quiz component is structured to take approx. 1 hour to complete in your own time. The submission deadline for completing the online quiz component for HLTAID009 Provide CPR Only is 1 month from enrolment, but it is better to complete it prior to attending the in-person training, so that you already have a basic understanding of the course materials.
YES, completing the online quiz is a COMPULSORY component of HLTAID009 Provide CPR Only course to obtain one's Statement of Attainment.

The completion of HLTAID009 Provide CPR Only will only enable you to perform CPR in community and workplace settings.
For training specific to vulnerable people such as infants, school-age children, and older adults in aged-care settings, the course you will need is HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in Education and Care Settings which is coming soon to AITS. To be able to perform all critical aspects of first aid, and be a certified first aid responder, you must have also completed HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and CPR in the past 3 years.
After your pre-course self-paced study and the multiple-choice online quiz, you will also be assessed in-person on your incident reporting skills. Finally, you will be asked to give assessors a practical demonstration of your CPR skills in various scenarios and need to demonstrate 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR performance.
If you have completed this first aid training before, please provide us with your Statement of Attainment or other verifiable certificates upon your enrolment. Depending on your renewal date, you may only be due to refresh your HLTAID009 Provide CPR only
The Model Workplace Health and Safety Code of Practice requires a minimum number of employees at a workplace complete HLTAID009 Provide CPR only only annually (every 12 months) and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and CPR be renewed every three (3) years.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and CPR must be renewed once every 3 years to maintain first aid compliance and provide first aid in an emergency.

The Safe Work Australia Model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace requires employers to ensure that their nominated first aiders attend training regularly to ensure currency.
